History

The Peace Makers Team began as a Libyan initiative in 2015, aimed at supporting the Constitutional Drafting Assembly to reach a common framework that achieves a minimum level of consensus. Believing in the principle of dialogue to overcome all obstacles, the team launched the Libyan Social Contract Project in 2016, intended to serve as a national document that underpins the constitutional project by defining the fundamentals and shared values of the Libyan nation, establishing governing principles for the national reconciliation project. This initiative was officially announced at the end of 2018 and presented as a contribution to the National Conference held in Ghadames . As the team’s network expanded, encompassing a unique geographical and social diversity, it also initiated the Political Platform Project in 2019. This project aims to bridge perspectives among political parties by providing solutions to address the root causes of the crisis, which have economic, cultural, and social dimensions. The initiative involved the participation of a select group of high-level local and international experts to achieve the minimum level of trust required to attain peace
